Trail rides and horse riding among the vines!

Join us on a journey around our family property, situated in the historic Hoffnungsthal Valley in the Southern Barossa Valley. All trail rides cater for beginner riders. Trail rides are paced according to rider capability. Check through our tour options, terms and conditions and frequently asked questions thoroughly before booking!

Our guides will share their knowledge and experience of our property and horsemanship with you. Our property boasts some of the oldest and premium red wine vineyards in the Barossa Valley! Hoffnungsthal historic site is located on the northern end of our property and is one of the places you will see on our tours.

Each block of vines has a story and is named after someone that has been on our property for a long time, even nicknames have been used!

Our horses are hand-picked and trained to be all-rounder horses. Capable of beginner riders and more experienced horse people!
We have a couple tour options; all rides cater for the absolute beginner!

Trail RidesAfter your guide has matched you to your horse, we will assist you through the mounting process. Once seated in the saddle, we will share with you the knowledge to ask your horse to move off nice and quietly, steer and stop.

Once your guides are content you are capable, we head out for our adventure.

Whilst on your trail rides through the vineyard, your guide will share knowledge of where our grapes end up in making premium wines. They will talk you through what stage of growth the vines are at, depending on time if year, you may see how a vine is pruned or the grapes being harvested! We may have a sneaky peak at some calves or our retired horses! Our stock have full access to our grazing land and love to laze about in the warm sun or play in the dam on hot days!

Up and over the Hill

After your guide has matched you to your horse, we will assist you through the mounting process. Once seated in the saddle, we will share with you the knowledge to ask your horse to move off nice and quietly, steer and stop.

Once your guides are content you are capable, we head out for our adventure and trail rides.

This ride not only shares our vineyard with you but one of our favorite places to be, THE HILL! This magnificent place offers 360 degree views of the southern Barossa.
Once we reach the top, we will dismount our horses and take in the breathtaking views, whilst enjoying morning or afternoon tea.

Up and Over the Hill - PLUS Scenic Helicopter Flight

Enjoy an exclusive tour for 2 people and scenic helicopter flight!

Up and over the Hill trail ride, cheese platter, glass of bubbles and scenic helicopter flight.

Meet our friendly staff and horses for a quick horse safety brief/lesson. We will then get you up on the horse and out on the trail around our family property – your guides will share with you some history of the property and information about our vines.

There will be opportunity along the way for photographs of you, your partner and your horses in the spectacular scenery!

Once we arrive at the top of our secluded hill, your guide will set up your platter and drinks. From here, they will leave you to enjoy the scenery until your private helicopter arrives to sweep you off into the Barossa Valley Skies! The helicopter will return you to the starting point after your flight.

 

UP AND OVER THE HILL PLUS 10-MINUTE SCENIC

Departing Hoffnungsthal Valley, heading over Rowland Flat taking in the views of Jacob’s Creek Winery’s “tank farm”. Some of these tanks hold up to 1.4 million liters of WINE! From there we take you to the southern end of the Barossa, past Lyndoch near Cockatoo Valley and over the Whispering Wall.

UP AND OVER THE HILL PLUS 20-MINUTE SCENIC FLIGHT

Departing Hoffnungsthal Valley we take you past the township of Lyndoch heading along the western ridge of the Barossa Valley to Seppeltsfield. Here you will see vines contouring the rolling hills and palm tree lined roads.

Then off to Nuriootpa, where your pilot will point out Maggie Beer’s farm and the famous Penfold’s Winery. Overhead Tanunda you can see the stunning old buildings of Chateau Tanunda and many old churches.

Now heading towards Rowland Flat to take in the views of the towering Jacob’s Creek Winery’s “tank farm”. Some of these tanks hold up to 1.4 million litres of WINE! From there we take you to the southern end of the Barossa, past Lyndoch near Cockatoo Valley and over the Whispering Wall.

Tour inclusions:
*Horses, all necessary gear and equipment to ride a horse, platter for 2, wine, scenic helicopter flight (length of your choice).
*The horse tour will end on the top of the hill, where you will be left alone for approx. 40 minutes.
*The helicopter will land on the designated heli-pad – stay clear until the pilot has instructed you to do any different.
*The pilot will give you a verbal safety briefing prior to boarding.

Payment:
Full payment is required before we depart for each tour.
We prefer bookings and payments online through our website.

Gift Vouchers:
All vouchers are NOT redeemable after the expiry date.
Non-refundable or redeemable for cash.
Try to book your tour soon after receiving a voucher.

Surprises and Proposals:
If the tour is a surprise or a wedding proposal, please advise us of the special occasion so that we can best coordinate with you to make it a special time.

Weather:
Barossa Horse Riding reserves the right to change tours due to weather conditions or other operational considerations. Our decision is final – regardless of the occasion.

Cancellations:
Apply to all bookings.
Out side 48 hours – no charge. Inside 48 hours you will forfeit full cost of tour.

* A full refund will be made available to customers in the event of a cancellation of the tour by Barossa Horse Riding due to adverse weather or any other unforeseen event.
** In the event you are a “NO SHOW” you will forfeit the cost of your entire booking.

Health and weight restrictions:
Ages 10 years and under 70
At least 130 cm or taller
Under 90 kg – please call to discuss if your slightly over.
Not recovering from surgery, pregnant or have a recent injury

Footwear and Clothing:
Enclosed flat soled shoes, t-shirt/polo or long sleeved shirt. Long pants to we worn (No 3/4 pants or shorts). No thongs or sandal’s. We have the right to refuse you to ride, should you not have the correct clothing and footwear.

Helmets:
All riders must wear an Australian Standard helmet and hair net, of which we will supply and fit to each individual person.
If you own a helmet and chose to bring it along, it must meet the Australian Standards and not be more than 5 years old.

PLEASE NOTE:
Whilst we take the utmost care and training with our horses, they are strong and have the ability to cause injury. Please take note that you as the rider have chosen to ride at your own risk.

What are Barossa Horse Riding hours of operation?
We open by appointment only.

What happens if the weather is bad and our tour gets cancelled?
If the operator cancels your trail rides for any reason, you have the option of a re-schedule or refund.

What accreditation does Lyndoch Equestrian Park & Barossa Horse Ridinghave? 
Our guides are Horse Safety Accreditation and all have current First Aid training.

Can I take a camera or my phone? 
Yes, you can take your phone or small (pocket sized) camera. However, we would prefer if you do not take phone calls, check Facebook or send texts whilst enjoying the trail rides! Save that for when you get back! We DO NOT take any responsibility for your own belongings, if it is broken or damaged in any way whilst on our tours, it is YOUR responsibility.

What should we wear?
Enclosed flat soled “work boots” or shoes at all times. Preferably of leather materials.
Long-sleeved, collared shirt, long pants and wide-brimmed hat to be worn. No nylon or lycra type pants are permitted.
If your ride is in winter, please ensure you bring waterproof shoes and clothing.

What is supplied on all tours?
Helmet – Australian Standard
Horse and all saddlery necessary to ride a horse
Sunscreen

NO Pets Allowed:
We love our pets but we appreciate that you leave yours at home. We have an infection control policy in place on our farm, which states unless your pets can be proven to not be a carrier or carry any infectious disease or proof of imunisation, they are not allowed on our property.

No Smoking:
Our property has a NO-SMOKING policy.

Will we be the only ones on the tour?
From time to time we may join groups on the trail rides.
